December brought us into fully remote Art class, where I was working with 8th grade students. Overall, I am astounded at the skill and dedication my students have shown throughout this situation. It is really tough to stay motivated and maintain relationships when our educational practice changes so drastically. It is my hope that students feel like I genuinely care about them, not only as young artists, but also as individuals. I did my best to communicate this to kids with love and sincerity. It is also my hope that students see Art as a way for them to process their lived experiences and that Art can be a tool for them to cope during difficult times. Here's to more Art-making in 2021!
