The Artistic Thinking Process

The Artistic Process

The Artistic Thinking Process is a way for students to approach the creation of artwork in class.  It gives students an opportunity to think about their ideas, organize and plan for what they want to make, select and experiment with tools and materials and make artistic decisions as they create drafts and final artwork.  It is also important to present artwork to others and then reflect on their success and directions for future artwork.  The Artistic Thinking Process is different depending on each artist and each artwork, and sometimes artists will repeat parts of the process, rearrange them or skip them altogether.  It is important to remember that the Artistic Thinking Process can change to meet the needs of the students and their artwork.
